Helping over 500+ students from all skill levels
Our students have grown their skills by taking our courses. Here are just a few of their stories.
My approach
After decades of teaching, I observed recurring questions among djembe students. DJEMBESOLO was created to address these questions.
Memorizing rhythms and patterns is part of the learning process, but understanding them is essential to be able to truly feel the music.
Through complementary standalone courses, observation-based lessons, and the DJEMBESOLO PATTERNS archive, this project has already helped many students around the world reach their goals on the djembe.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
What is DJEMBESOLO?
DJEMBESOLO is an online platform to learn djembe in a clear and structured way. It is made for students who want to understand what they play, build confidence, and enjoy the learning process.
-
Is DJEMBESOLO beginner-friendly?
Yes. DJEMBESOLO is suitable for beginners who want to build solid foundations and understand what they play from the start. Previous musical experience is an advantage, but it is not a prerequisite.
-
Is DJEMBESOLO suitable for advanced players?
Yes. DJEMBESOLO is designed for advanced players who want to expand their vocabulary, strengthen their technique, and develop practical tools for solo playing, with a clear path toward professional-level playing.
-
What is the difference between STANDALONE, PATTERNS, and MEMBERSHIP?
STANDALONE courses focus on one specific aspect of djembe playing.
DJEMBESOLO PATTERNS is an archive of solo patterns, organized by their function in the music.
The MEMBERSHIP brings everything together into a complete learning framework, connecting technique, vocabulary, and improvisation strategies, and includes additional BONUS courses focused on specific details, concepts, or real-life playing situations.
-
Can BONUS courses be purchased separately?
No, bonus courses are exclusive to the DJEMBESOLO Membership and cannot be purchased individually. They are designed as complementary learning material that extends and enriches the core courses.
-
Is the MEMBERSHIP an annual subscription?
Yes. The MEMBERSHIP is an annual subscription, billed once per year, with the option to pay monthly. Access is renewed each year as long as the subscription remains active.
-
Why is access limited to a fixed duration instead of lifetime?
At DJEMBESOLO, we do not consider lifetime access to be an effective learning model. The goal is not to own content forever, but to develop musical skills within a defined time frame.
STANDALONE courses are designed to be completed within a few months (two-year access), while DJEMBESOLO PATTERNS is a long-term archive with three-year access.
Additional access can be granted upon request in legitimate cases.
-
What happens after I purchase a course or join the MEMBERSHIP?
After purchasing a course or joining the MEMBERSHIP, you are not left on your own.
You can ask questions directly within each course chapter and receive personal answers, and you also get access to the DJEMBESOLO community to exchange questions, feedback, and materials with other members.
“I attest to the competence of Louis Cesar Ewande to teach the djembe. He is someone I can count on to transmit this music with respect for African culture.”
